UPDATE ON CCW IN NATIONAL PARKS
The law allowing CCW on NPS property goes into effect Feb 22nd 2010. A 2nd amendment rally will be held on the grounds of the Jefferson National Expansion Memorial on Sat. Feb 27th 2010. A permit from the National Park Service for this purpose has been issued. The rally will be held at the north end of the grand stair case beginning at 10:00 AM. IF you hold a valid CCW you may carry your firearm.
Senator Tom Coburn (R-OK)attached an amendment to the recently passed credit card bill, an Obama must-pass bill, to allow firearms in National Parks under the same restrictions and regulations as apply in the surrounding state territories. Thus, if your state allows CCW, it's allowed in those national parks in your state under the Coburn
amendment. Same for open carry in your vehicle. The Coburn amendment is much better than the Park Service regulation that was overturned. But it doesn't go into effect until February of 2010.
